p.1 #1 · 7D macro shots...

After one month with the 7D, I really like the camera. My success rate has improved greatly, due in large part to being able to focus precisely with Liveview, and to verify sharpness on the LCD after the shot.

7D, Sigma 150/2.8 Macro

I'm kind of undecided about the noise levels. Low ISO (100-400) definitely look noisier than the 20D, at least on the screen. I have yet to make any prints, but I don't think it will be noticeable. (I usually print 10x15, up to 12x18). High ISO is another story - the 7D blows the 20D away from 1600 on up. The lack of pattern noise in the 7D makes the noise more film-like, as well as easier to remove with NR software.

I had heard that as well -that there was a film like grain to the noise. I'm curious as to how it compares with the noise of the 40D, but as long as there isn't any banding then it should be pretty good...
