Looks like I am going to be travelling to Chicago with work quite regularly from now on, can anyone recommend any camera stores in the city?

City or 'burbs?

Calumet has a store downtown and in Oak Brook.

Dodd Camera has a store there as well, but it's mostly rentals (but you can buy there as well, and they're the only Chicago-area dealer for Think Tank).

Helix is somewhere, or was somewhere.

I think they also still have Central Camera (since 1899 or something like that). Calumet is where I'd head, though, assuming the mothership store is at least as good as the one in Hollywood.

Calumet Photo probably the best, Chicago location opens earlier, Oak Brook open later and on Sundays, good selection, helpful staff in my experience, Chicago is larger store and I believe warehouse is now there, they have rental equipment available

Helix is at 10 S. Racine Ave., Chicago, IL 60607, just outside of downtown area, large store, but haven't been there in a several years, seems like prices were higher

Central Camera is an older shop in downtown, 230 S Wabash Ave, Chicago, IL 60604, been a while since I was there last, smaller store, but lots of stuff, at the time had lots of used gear for sale, lots of business from local colleges/art schools (film cameras), interesting store, have heard mixed reviews on pricing here
