Having gone a few mornings without the pleasure of starting a day with one of your lovely black and white masterpieces, it is especially nice to find this beauty. The word, "Perfect!", including the exclamation point just keeps popping into my mind. Every single detail, all the way down to the fading stem--- perfect! This may be the best one yet.
So glad to see your dahlia this morning---in all its glory. Can't improve
on "perfect". The lighting is masterful.
Another beauty for the coffee table book.
Janice
Strad, you continue to stun and amaze me with your flower captures. You are truly the Ansel Adams of floral photography! The shadow detail and toning you capture are just stunning in every flower you shoot. Heck, I think you could make star thistle look beautiful
Thank you, Cal, my friend! Needless to say, I'm delighted by your very kind comments but I think I am not the one responsible for the perfection you perceive. That emanates from a much higher realm.
Warm regards,
Endre

Thank so much, Janice! Dahlias seem to like me. I'm delighted that you like it so much!

Wow! "The Ansel Adams of flower photography!" That's incredibly high praise. Thanks so much, Jo! Actually, I have seen thistles in the flower store so the next time I do, I'll get one.
All the best,
Endre

Thanks, todd! I'm happy you like it! No, I have to go out to find my flowers but whether I find one on a plant and cut it or go to the flower store, I do spend an inordinate amount of time picking just the right flower to shoot. This one was the only Dahlia at the store that I liked after I looked through about 50 possibilities. In fact, since I already have a shot of a couple of different Dahlias, I wasn't even inclined to shoot another one, except for the fact that the structure of this one was different than the others.
All the best,
Endre

Do flowers line up at your doorstep just to have their photo taken?
Great shot, and I agree with the other comments that this may be your best yet.
