· Head Suggestions for Gitzo 2942 monopod?
I've never used a monopod before, but after picking up a Nikon 300mm 2.8 VR prime, decided it was time.
I found a Gitzo 2942 on FM's Buy/Sell for relatively cheap, and picked it up.
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/548649-REG/Gitzo_GM2942_GM_2942_Basalt_Monopod_.html
I like the setup, but was wondering if anyone thinks a head is necessary on a monopod, or just a waste?
Thanks...
Steve

This is what I use on mine:

There's a limit to how far over you can tilt the monopod, so for high- or low-angle shots, the pivot is very useful. No real downside, except for the minimal weight added. RRS has a similar setup available.
