I still have 2 of these and enjoy using them a lot. There's other interesting f/1.2-ish 50s out there but the Rokkor has a lot of specialness to it. I'll post the modern photo lens tests soon. It was the best 50-ish f/1.2 they had ever tested, from what I have seen.

Mmm... They liked the later version *much* more than the earlier one, for whatever reason. The one they loved was I think a 259xxx(?), I'll have to look it up. It was a rubber-grip version.

That just goes to show, once again, that there is some serious sample variation in the Rokkor 58/1.2. I never had a rubber grip version (6 copies) that matched my 200xxxx. A few of them were close...
But even an "average" sample of this lens is relatively excellent (relative to other 50s I have tried, that is) IMO.
