Can the Kirk L Plate (bracket) BL-40DG (battery grip version) for 40D fits 50D with battery grip nicely? Will I still have access to the ports such as USB and Remote Shutter Release. Please let me know thanks!

if this is any help (and I think it is), I use the Kirk 40D L-plate (for use without a grip) on my 50D, and it works fine. Since both bodies use the same grip, it's a good guess that you'll be OK.

I had the 40D L bracket on my 50D with grip amd I couldn't open the ports on the side of the 50D. Kirk originally thought this bracket would work on the 50D but eventually replaced it with a model specifically for the 50D

Oh well. It is tough to get the 50D port covers open on my 50D with the Kirk 40D L-plate mounted (remember, my setup is sans grip), but I am just barely able to get a fingernail in there and pop open the rubber flaps.

Ok thanks. It seems like the consensus here is that the L plate with battery grip is mountable but IMPOSSIBLE to access to the ports due to rubber flap. The only working model is one without the grip but can barely access to the ports as noted by dcains. Thanks everyone! I hope this info help for the others who ponder on the same question.
