Nice shots, although scenery isn't really "my thing", it shows the old girl still is still very capable.

Agreed. Good thing you have that killer AF. Those trees can be pretty quick sometimes

What lens did you use on #10 ? F stop?

Here's a ISO 1600 shot from the 1D. I did not apply any noise reduction, so you can see how bad the noise is straight from the camera

I think your photos would be nicer if:

1. The 1D battery lasted longer than a few hundred shots
2. The 1D LCD was bigger
3. (Obviously) The 1D had more MPs for cropping
4. The 1D took memory cards greater than 2GB.

When you look at 1d's IQ, none of above seems to be a problem for me.

Image quality is what counts after all.

The falling leaves were shot with the 400f5.6L at ISO1600.
The rest were shot with a Zeiss 85mm f1.4 ZF, stop down to f2-f5.6
The original files are very sharp, I don't know why flickr would eat away the details so much.

xjsq, your shots are fantastic. I bet you could take equally excellent shots with a PS or pinhole camera,

jxsq, nice ones.

I just sold my 1Ds II and 50D, so right now I am just getting by with my 1D. In normal lighting conditions, it is still a fantastic camera. Even at high ISO, it's not too bad.

Here is a few snapshots with ISO 1600 straight out of camera -

You can use 4GB on the 1D body. I did it back in the days when everyone was ripping the 4GB micro drive off MuVo player and costed about $200.

6. If the 1D used 14 bit colors. Totally forgot about that.
and lastly...7. If the 1D had excellent high ISO capabilities at ISO 12800.

Of course. I forgot to add a smiley in the end of my original post. The complaints I listed come from the threads where people asked whether 1D is still a good camera to have for the price.

Well, it is a killer camera for $500 now.
My models are tiny. Shot with a Nikkor 600mm f5.6 ED AIS. Manual focus, now that was challenging. Of course AF wasn't available, but 8fps was very useful

Catching flying bugs with a MFST? I'm extremely impressed.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

Actually some of my favorite shots came from 1D - even though I did not own it for that long - switches 1DII at that time and never decided if that was worth it ... well except the battery life...

Excellent shot in the tread ...

For me, it was just the battery life...the "special" look to it may be attributed to the fact that it was the only CCD sensor 1 series?

The 1D was a really outstanding camera and as long as the original file was well-exposed, you could take them pretty big for print.

Duck is looked much better captured after it has been roasted

Nah, it's nothing, I needed a faster future xD model to capture Tri catching flies with chopstick...

Seriously, there is a 1Ds (FF) body that offer for $1,100 on Craigslist that very, very tempting to me as a backup body for my 5D, but if I waited for few months and few hundred more, I could get a 7D. Wait! I just get a brand new 7D yesterday, but my son quickly "traded" his 40D for it! I told you, having a spouse is already "bad", having a son who shared the same hobby is even worse!!!
