I've been looking through as many of the posts as I can to sort out the best option for a new display for photo editing. I've been using a Lacie 19" Electron Blue CRT for several years. It's getting hard to calibrate and the screen is flickering intermittently.
RIght now my budget needs to be in the $400-700 range. I'd like to spend more but I just can't now.
I need a monitor that I can count on for good color.
Can someone summarize the best options?? I was actually considering a refurbished Lacie 324 (which smartshooter can rated quite well). However, their refurbs have a 180 day warranting vs. 3 year for new.
Well, I am in the same situation too. My second lacie screen is burning out.
I am leaning on Dell U2410 , just holding on reading more reviews on it in a week. Will love more user's comments on it.
I too was wondering about the DELL U2410 as an option. While not valid, I bristle and the option of buying something from DELL based on a bad customer service experience a couple of years ago, quality control, etc. More comments from photogs using this monitor would be great.
Very interesting detail review of the U2410. Thanks for the link Shasoc. A question about color space. Are the new lab printers now printing in the full RGB space vs. sRGB? I notice White House now says they can take Adobe RGB vs sRGB. Is this is the case, should I really be looking at a wide gamut monitor then? What are the advantages.
I appreciate the guidance here...this IS NOT my area of expertise!
I have the Dell U2410 and it has been a great addition. It looked ok out of the box, they are supposed to come pre-calibrated, but it looked a lot better after I put my Spyder 3 on it.
