I think its more of an evolution of questions and answers rather than a hijack. My part in this thread has been to answer the questions that appear, beginning with the original post.
A lot of good information resulted here, including a better understanding of the Euro scale and it's variations and implications. Hopefully, some perspective was gained as to the realities of WS and watts, and myths and pre/misconceptions were clarified.
All I said was that Einstein could do what was claimed. I should have said, I suppose, is so can Einstein and Bron and several other systems. I didn't introduce any mention of Cyber Commander - this began with amplexis here below:
so Paul,
can a future software upgrade to the Cyber Commander offer MultiMax like SpeedCycler capability so we can cycle thru a group of Einsteins? i just watched the Chase Jarvis strobed photo session and thought, well if i am buying this stuff anyway...
I hate to burst any bubbles here, but this thread was full of misinformation and false fantasies about what the original post referred to. Do readers want valid technical information or do they prefer to live in fantasy land? I was the only member who provided any real answers and technical insights to the original poster and his question.
Beni, if you're going to accuse me of hijacking here, please don't then ask me do do special favors for you on the same forum.
I was asked questions and I answered them. If you consider this a hijack, so be it. I have nothing against Hensel or any other company, and neither expressed anything like that, nor did I promote my equipment - I only mentioned a product. I sincerely try to provide info here, especially when specifically asked. Geez are we getting touchy.
Why are you guys hassling him when people asked him questions here and he answered?
And Beni in another thread asked him to do a favor for him by supplying him with parts they don't normally sell separately, then goes and jumps him on this thread.
You guys are being the jerks, not him.
The thread has been hijacked but not by the very last sentence of PB's reply in which he gives a throw away comment about the Einsteins and not in any way to promote them either (especially given that he said nothing about it being a feature of said Einsteins). My comment was not directed at him.

So does anyone know anything about the roboflash, seems like a potentially enticing unit
+1 That should really be the topic here. I get jumped on when I release all the info I can on upcoming products but here we have a non-explained teaser and no info whatsoever from the anyone, including the people who actually know what the real story is.
Well, so far, no one has mentioned the stunning potential of this Hensel unit.
There is an whole vast indusry crying out for 30 fps strobes- film. 30 fps uses less power than continious lighting, and I believe a new generation of strobes will be used by small film makers everywhere.
He states right in the video, and even rights it on the screen, It's a broncolor scoro a4s.
He also states he is shooting at 8 fps.
Pretty sweet though

SURE! if you love stop-motion freezeframe effect.
30 fps, but usually around 1/60th of a second exposure to get normal motion.
Introduce 30FPS as flash and every frame will be perfectly sharp. It'll look like a bad 80's music video.

question; is the unit that Chase Jarvis is using in the video i referenced a roboflash?
i was just wondering if there is a way to do this with the PCB gear i am buying. and i would be very happy getting 8 frames a second.
Einstein should be capable of 8 frames per second at 50WS - perhaps more. The mysterious unit in the video, based on the non existent information definition given and analysis by Peter Berensem appears to be capable of 8fps at 60WS. Now there is even a discussion of who supposedly makes this unit . . . is it Hensel or Bron (or is it Memorex or does it exist at all?)
Haven't tested it specifically, but I believe a $230 AB400 can do 8fps at around 40-50WS. I have to add the caveat that I'm not entirely sure the sync circuit can quite make 8fps but were there actually a demand for this obscure feature a simple change of a $.02 resistor value would give it this capability.

Motion is easy (if you have the right software) to add back in post, for those addicted to the soft, fluid, film look. A growing number of modern movies are being shot sharp, and then selectively motion-softened (ie by Lucus), so that the action is sharp, but the moodier bits and slower action etc, are softer.
It doesn't have to look like a bad music vid, it can look amazing, or could look like continious light was used- and at a vastly reduced budget.
Wait and see guys. Just as the music recording industry went through a massive shift once it was digitised (allowing the explosive growth of quality home recording studios) similar things are beginning to happen to film making.
My guess would be that this unit is not designed for video or motion photography as much as for high production 360º product photography, done typically using turntables. Interesting from a technical standpoint, but esoteric none the less. Can't think of any reason where I'd need it.
For a while it's been a bit speculative of which would come first- strobes capable of giving usable power at 24/30fps, or new hybrid video/still cameras capable of triggering strobes at 24/30fps.
There will never be as many young gun film/video makers as there are wanna-be still shooters, but watch this space.
I agree with Carman though. I couldn't currently use a strobe firing faster than my camera.
