When I clicked on your posts button, I noticed that almost all your posts where on Paul's product threads. Any connection?
I have no idea of who Rick is. No connection whatsoever.

I will argue this one with you as there are lots of NEMA configurations for outlets.
1800 watts would only apply to a 20 amp 120 volt breaker under a continuous load.
Something with time constants would not apply.
I am fully prepared to argue this point. What is suggested is on the order of 12,000 watts AC input power for one second. That's 100 amps at 120VAC or 50A at 240VAC. A standard 120V household circuit is rated at 15A, and will blow the breaker at 110% within 1 hour, and at 200% in a few seconds - look it up to get the exactly break time for 200%. What is suggested represents about a 700% overload and would blow a breaker in a few milliseconds. For reference to non-engineers, the power levels being fantasied here are akin to a HVAC unit requiring a 50A 240V dedicated outlet.
As Peter suggests, this is a 500WS unit. And Peter knows of what he speaks, Tell you what, I'll wager $10,000 to anyone here that this unit, if and when actual specs are released, outputs 31 pulses per second at approximately 16WS per pulse or 8 pulses per second at approximately 60WS per pulse, not 31 pulses of 200WS as has been speculated by some here.

Paul, it's really been great to see you come out of your shell since that last poll.
Boy those assertiveness classes must be really working for you, eh?

That's one. We still have a few hours before the cock crows.
C'mon Paul, surely you remember.... "" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">The Rickster".
Oh - I get it Rick Astley changed his name and came on here as my secret surrogate. Quite possible I suppose - most who have been in the recording industry know me and respect my work. Right now I'm in communications with Alan Parsons - he likes me - maybe he'll come on here too if I ask him.

Hi Brent,
No connection. I never owned a PCB product in my life (I have older Norman studio flash) but I am very interested in the new products and that is why you see my posts where you do.
For years I had been critical of the "effective w/s" advertising of the White Lightning stuff so I was not always a fan. But I really respect the success of the company and the way they reportedly treat their customers. I don't know Paul at all although I may have spoken with him briefly at the WL booth at PhotoExpo twenty years ago.
Thinking about it I am probably taking his side because I sense a kind of "product elitism" from his detractors. ...this from a Mac user. :-)
I was just curious. I'll admit I love my brons, wouldn't go back to dynalight after using them, but I really liked my dyna's too. Only thing that made me switch was flash duration. Then I found out about all the nice modifiers bron has for what I do and was hooked!

Sure. Shaken, not stirred, please.
Being on here requires assertiveness training. Hey, thanks for keeping me at the top of the thread list when all I did is correct the fantasies.

Nothing wrong with Bron if you can afford them. I may be mistaken, but I believe Visatec was Bron's answer to WL. 1/600 second t.5 See specs and price here.

Yes, why does it have to be hooked up to a 15 amp 120 volt outlet?
Why not a 50 amp 240 volt or a 200 amp 480v 3 phase for that mater?
You must be kidding! You want a 3/4" cable and thousands of dollars worth if rewiring for a 500WS strobe? I don't quite think this is what Hensel intends!
so Paul,
can a future software upgrade to the Cyber Commander offer MultiMax like SpeedCycler capability so we can cycle thru a group of Einsteins? i just watched the Chase Jarvis strobed photo session and thought, well if i am buying this stuff anyway...

I could probably add GPS and remote toaster control. I've done the best I can for the broadest cross section of users. To try to make it do everything that anyone could possibly ask for would yield a product too complex for the average user.

thanks Paul,
i'm grateful and satisfied with getting the published capabilities. i was just curious what the programmable/upgradeable nature of the Cyber Commander might be capable of. would you ever offer an SDK or control from a PC?

Because of the SD Card, CC can be made to do lot's of things in the future. We try to stay away from pc interface or we'll be spending all our time writing apps for the ever changing operating systems. I suggest a comparison of CC to another popular remote system that has USB and software. I won't say more.
Just had to go to Snow Leopard to use the latest apps - but had to buy several new Macs because SL won't go in 2 year old G5s. I don't want to do that to my customers. Shame . . . Apple. What happened to forward/backward compatibility that Apple was so good at?
