Spent 17 glorious days on Kauai in September. The following a just a few images and much more important, memories that I have captured. Please critique and let me know which one is your favorite.
Lots of images to peruse and it looks like a lot of nice memories. The two that really catch my attention here are the Sunrise Waves and the Lydgate Beach Sunrise images. Very nice exposures with some nice reflections and good choice on shutter speeds.
These images are simply stunning... The Bamboo shot, Ke'e beach and the sunrise at (Queen's bath?) are marvelous.. Soft light nicely captured and processed... beautiful compositions... great job!
Thanks everyone for your feedback. My favorite photos are Ke'e Beach and Sunrise waves. I've visitied Ke'e Beach 3 times for a sunset photo, with this being the last. It as a drizzly evening and I thought I would not have much luck...but nature is very unpredictable and the soft evening light really made this photo.
The Sunrise waves photo was shot near the "Queen's Bath". I got my wife out of bed around 5 am, got the headlamps on and decended down a slippery trail to the shoreline. It was a little eerie as we got there before it was light and all we could here ( and feel ) were the waves hitting the lava beach. Morning brought a wonderful sunrise with the sun rising just to the right of the photo.
Wonderful set of images. Lydgate Beach Sunrise and Sunrise Waves really catch my attention!!!!!
Where did you stay while on Kauai? Did you get to Brennekes Beach Broiler for a Mai-Tai? They have the best in the Islands!!!!
Nice work, been to the island twice and seem to find something new every time we're there. I am actually heading back in a little over a month.
Not to hijack your thread or anything, but has anyone been there in the "winter" how are the waves on the north shore, and does it make getting to some of those beaches a bit harder, like Ke'e, Nannini (sp), Secret and Tunnels Beaches?
