Ah, I see. It's a matter of taste, I guess. I've never owned a lens which' bokeh have been ugly because of the aperture shape. Even 5-bladed aperture lenses can give the smoothest bokeh, stopped down.
Stopping down generally makes the bokeh smoother, regardless of the number of blades. Here's a good example that I've posted before:

This is the Nikkor 50/1.2 AI @ f/2.8. The shape of the aperture is impossible to determine. There are 7 blades, and they are not rounded at all.
Wide open, the bokeh is much harsher.
Edit: That's why I wonder about TWoK:s reply:
The bokeh isn't going to get better a stop down because while that might tame the gumdrops it will give you geometric bokeh which no one wants to look at.
So, I'd really like to see some stopped down shots with short DOF from the Oly and Nikkor 24/2.
