I'll be going, too, probably Saturday. I definitely expect them to have a demo lens to try out! Let's see how it feels and handles...

OK, I was referring to the older Zeiss Contax and Rollei versions, which is quite a bit smaller and lighter than the new Zeiss

ouch, $1800 usd for the nikon 35/1.4. i hope samyang hits this one out of the ballpark with a fantastic lens and price-point.

Maybe the f/ratio is more like 1.2 but the transmission is so low that they chose to market it as a f/1.4? Is that a likely hypothesis? (Just speculating here)

if that's the case then you'd still get bokeh like a 1.2

I think it is unlikely, if the f-ratio is f1.2, I am sure the marketing will jump on it. Do you think they will hide the fact just so to keep the other camps happy?

I would rather they make a strong f1.4 over a weak 1.2. Waiting for this one...

Even though its closeup and not as tough for OoF rendering, the bokeh looks pretty nice.

The styling seems to not have been a priority in the design, as was the English press release. What's that strange copper colored ring?
Lets hope the optical quality was on top of the priority list.

It seems like soft corners and vignette is to be expected on FF.
