I had a 20D since shortly after they were introduced and I absolutely loved it! it gave me many great images and I never thought that there could be much better.........
............Then I purchased my 1DMKII! I had full intentions of keeping the 20D as a backup, because it was such a great camera, but every time I would pick it up it felt like a toy!
So to answer the question, I really don't think I would ever be able to go away from the 1-body. I have just recently sold the 20D and it is going towards funding a 24-105.

I currently have a 5D and love the full frame. I had a 20D and used it for some birding and the extra reach however I am seriously considering picking up a used 1D Mark II for the 1.3x crop factor I can say I would never go back to 1.6. With the Mark II and 5D would have the best of both worlds.

Nope! I still have a 40D and a D60, but the 40D rarely comes out (although I did put 3,500 images through it on the weekend) and the D60 is almost a paperweight now.

I have a 1DsIII and will be an early adopter of the MkIV but I'm still considering picking up a 7D as well. Sometimes I need a smaller, compact option.
