Wow, Tamron has announced new VC version of the popular zoom and have kept the size and weight almost the same. I hope they can do the same with the 28-75 or better yet make it a 24-75
If the price is more than $700 I'd get the new canon 15-85IS, hands down.
I do have the Tamron 17-50 standard and love it, but the new canon lens for wider +IS is very tempting!
28-75 f/2.8 VC will sell really well, especially if they sell it around $700-800 US. Then Canon will for sure release their 24-70 f/2.8 IS and sell it lower then they normally would when there isn't a competition. Sadly, I don't see Tamron coming out with this lens in the next couple of years given they are aiming at the budget market. If Canon is the release such lens, it will be sold around $1800-2000 US. Maybe Sigma can step up and put OS on their 24-70 HSM.
I apologize , I didn't realize this thread existed so I posted a similar thread.
According to the Tamron site this lens is listed at $649.00.
I was interested in the Canon 17-55 IS, then came across the news on this lens. How does the Tamron compare to Canon? Is the VC technology new ..any feedback on how is compares to Canon IS??
From the Tamron Japan site. Does that mean release to stores in Japan, or also being sent from Japan to suppliers in the US on that date?
edit: Checked the Tamron US site for press releases, and the announcement is not there yet. http://www.tamron.com/news/pr_index.asp
