It's something I've been chuckling to myself about recently. Have you noticed the way that sales people give a dirty look if you don't pronounce it the same way they do? Or is that just me... <ahem>
In the US & UK I've only ever heard it pronounced like it's spelled -- Git zoh
In the Dutch speaking part of Belgium I've heard it also the way it's spelled, but they pronounce 'g's with a chhhh sound so it's -- Chhhhhit zoh
The company was originally French though, so I imagine it's the French way, which I've puzzled over slightly, but I think is -- Zhit zoh.
Er, actually it's hard to write that correctly. With the phoenetic alphabet the 'g' is written as a 'z' with a descender. I cannot think of another way of writing that in roman alphabet than 'zh'. I'm not a native French speaker though, so couldn't be certain. Perhaps a native speaker here could enlighten us better. (the only similar word in French I can think of is 'gite' and that is pronounced with the 'zhi' sound, although there's an accent on the 'i' which may be the factor determining the pronunciation of the g...).
