There are more and more trolling and pointless postings about lately and my HIDE ME list is full. Why is the list limited to 15; is there a resource issue? Does any one else have this problem?
Yes you`re dead right. I`m new to the forum and some of the posts are indeed irrelevant, pointless, puerile and just smack of look at me-ism. I am become weary of some of these knaves and jesters with their foolish japery. Thanks EB1, I didn`t know about the Hide Me facility and I will certainly use it but I suspect it won`t be long before mine is also full. Perhaps an alternative would be a `favourites` list. Another way might be to stop these posts dead in their tracks by launching an onslaught of such sarcasm and vitriol-laced humour that would embarrass anyone who considered adding their own brain-fart to the post.

No doubt many posts are pointless, etc., but are they offensive enough to warrant blocking the message posters completely? Seems a bit worrisome when 15 slots are not enough...at some point you may be moving into real, dyed-in-the-wool misanthropy.
Maybe you could prioritize the individuals on your list? I've found that many annoying people don't stick around for too long, so maybe some of yours are less frequent visitors. You could recycle your hide-'em spots for grosser offenders.

What you are describing as a behavior management technique is out-and-out flaming. Participating in a campaign like that would rightly brand you as a troll.
Soenda, yeah, you are right up to a point, but I wouldn`t stand and listen face-to-face with someone spouting irrelevant nonsense so why on a forum? Yes in a mano a mano type interface scenario, I can walk away but by the time
I`ve figured out that a post is trivial, it`s too late, I`ve already clicked on it. There is no prior warning. There are clowns in all walks of life and I suppose all forums have their fair share. At least on the internet they can`t follow you round the room! Well, not yet.

Folks...does the hide list hide someone from everyone in a particular thread? Or, perhaps, just from he/she who make the hide designation in a thread?
Am thinking it is the latter but would prefer the former.
Thanks for any advice.

Yes, it's the latter. The Hide Me button only hides that person's posts from the hider not from everyone.
I don't use it....but here is a question. Do you not see any post they do, including quotes for other posts? Does it make dialogue seem disjointed if they are posting, quoting and like? Just curious. If I'm 'debating' with someone...I like see what they are saying.
Oh, can you tell if you are on someone's 'hide me' list? Or just in general how many 'hide me' one has? Just curious...would be interesting to how many I have.

It basically minimizes their post. You can see that they posted but the body of text is hidden. You can see their text if someone quotes them however.
It can make a topic seem disjointed but if you've chosen to hide someone then you tend to find you're not really interested in any kind of discussion they're having anyway.
