p.1 #1 · Erosion as Art

Been playing around with last years material, having fun with it. A bit more intimate than the usual wide angle stuff. Let me know if you think their over the top!

Your comments are welcome.

I really like these Zeph. Very nice use of the lighting to emphasize the extreme contours of your subjects. They have a lovely artisic quality.

Cheers,
Ed

Looks like closer and closer and CLOSER at Zabriske Pt. Very well presented Zeph wherever it may be. I always love badlands shots and these are no exception.

My kind of stuff! I like them all, but especially #2. 1 is a little lacking in contrast to bring out those textures.

Nice views - all of them made me linger a bit for different reasons in each case. The first one is my favorite because of the way that the trail lines up the ridge drag my eyes up to the ridge line with the dark contrasting hill just before the skies.

Great details in all of these and nice comps in the second two as well.

Nice stuff to have in your archive - thanks for sharing the views.

I very much enjoyed #2, wonderful composition that takes me all over the frame.

The textures in #2 are incredible, very 3D! The focal point also has the maximum contrast which keeps me in the frame for a long time. Great work. jaye

Great work. 2 is absolutely awesome. I like 1 as well, especially how the rock colour carries on into the sky. Maybe a small touch more contrast.

I quite like these. I find formations like this pretty interesting, but challenging to capture in a compelling way - you did a good job with that. Especially #2 that really focuses in on the texture and form.

Hi Zeph, the third would be my pick. The shadows add a dynamic feeling and variety to the textures missing in the first two.

I printed the second and yes, you are right about the contrast David. Thank for the input I'm glad you liked these.

Nice set. Made me want to reach for my canteen. I think they would also be interesting in b & w.

Great set w/ the last being the most original to my eye. The shadowed areas take on a pitchfork like appearance that just makes this one. Excellent!

Nice pictures. I found Zabriskie point quite a tough location to photograph.

I like #2 and 3. The sky in #1` (pink) looks unnatural even if it may in fact have been that way.

Cool stuff, Zeph! The sequence from ultra soft to stonger light in these is very nicely done. Absolutely love the 2nd, with the 1st very close behind!!

Dalite,The first two we're pre-dawn, and everything had a yellow cast, especially the sky. Which was what originally attracted me to process that one. It does look kinda unnatural...Maybe I'll back-off the saturation in the sky a bit...
Thanks for the comment.
