Good for you Ed.
I went down to a reserve, a couple of hours drive, the previous weekend just to get some shots like this. It was a real hot day and the mother grebe was in the shade under a tree which dipped into the water and I could not get a decent shot.
Very nice set and my top picks are # 2 and 3.

#1 and 6 are the strongest in my opinion (though #1 is a bit soft).

An Otter desroyed the first nest and ate the 5 chicks and they started again we have had 3 days of rain so going back this morning.
The Otter came back last wed and all heck broke loose the chicks were on the mothers back and the male was playing decoy these were long shots but I have been there for days. Last Sunday there were 6 chicks and one egg to go so can't wait to check them out today. Ed
