p.3 #1 · The Pilles Portrait Project

Jon Courtney wrote:

The moderators don't ban people without good reason. On Sunday pilles was like a man possessed, starting threads and commenting on others. He was doing all he could to get a rise out of people - classic troll behavior - and typing faster than a twenty-year-old!

I gave up reading his comments because they became increasingly absurd, so ultimately I don't know what he wrote, but I do know that lots of threads were pulled that night.

My guess is he was outed as the fraud that he is. Reason enough for a ban in my book.

One thing I do know, if pilles is an 89-year-old retired photographer, I'll eat my lensbay

Ray, its funny how many cry and whine about someone, then all of a sudden, wonder why they're gone, or now comment about them, in the other direction...... It just gets weird'r. There soooo much love and BS around here, it gets deep real quick.

Oh, don't forget all the love smilies... You have to include those in every other paragraph...

Forget about mentioning how bad an image is, and what they should do to push their photography ahead and up a notch. Lets just PS the heck out of it.

One more love grin

p.3 #3 · The Pilles Portrait Project

Good Morning Folks.

I was glad to see some more positive thinking in this discussion. The right attitude can make this place a fun place for lots of people. The wrong (negative) attitude can make it a place people want to avoid. I think there is already too much negativism in this forum and IF we work together, there can be a change for the better here.

This Pilles Portrait Project may become a real expedition to find the truth.

Does he exist?

Is he real?

Is there more to the story of Pilles?

I think this Project has potential for lots of interesting developments.

Should prove interesting, whatever the results.

My Simple Suggestion: have one photographer from the FM group do a "documentary" styled photo essay showing the group of FM members visiting Pilles too. A "behind the scenes" view of this photo expedition. Good opportunity to show your PJ skills. This PJ styled work may become very interesting in its own way.

Sam Hassas has stepped forward and volunteered to guide the group effort in the Bay Area. Thanks Sam!

Who else wants to volunteer and join the Project?

I doubt it was pilles crits that got him the boot.
More likely the promise to paste his long, crass, poorly formatted diatribe into any post he saw fit, along with increasingly juvenile one liners. Probably not the content Fred is looking for.

That said, I hope he gets a chance to return. I don't think he's a fraud.

Maybe there should be a TV series started... A book written... A lecture tour...

The legend of Pilles.... Fact or Fiction?

Smiley added for fuzzyness

Steady... I can't for the life of me, figure out why you 'believe' there is too much negativity abound here... ?

I mean honestly. Just because one doesn't write goo-goo-gaa-gaa verbage, doesn't mean they're not helping someone. Of course, I'm not trying to promote my site, or promote a book, or any of those things...

Of course. You have your "opinions". I have mine.

Do tell.

If they are going to be an ass like that moron then no to the friendly place. He gets what he dishes and from the looks of his "photography" he shouldn't be dishing anything

Thanks Jon.

That was a good addition to this discussion.

I agree about the positive comments too.

I agree... We need more positive comments and observations.

But where is Pilles?

He may be banned...but somehow he's watching this project, and I'm sure he's happy bout it.

Steady made a good project out of pilles. I can't wait to see the expression of an 89 year old photographer "happy in taking pictures".

How i wish my grandma and grandpa who died below 89 YEARS OLD were still alive here with me so I can take pictures with them and CAPTURE THE MOMENT....

I guess few of the photographers can't do that anymore, so go ahead and support this project guys....GO and CAPTURE THE MOMENT

It's only negativity when you don't agree with what everyone else has already said. Pilles was/is an Ass but he was kind of funny at times. I would take Pilles over heavy doses of a couple of these other long winded guys anytime. At least he did not seem to take himself so seriously.

There's steady steadily trying to improve FM. I was steadfast to the idea at first but steadily grew into it more. Steady now folks and we'll ride this "friend ship" into harbor.
