I am really glad I took a camera with me on this adventure. If I didn't have the photos nobody would believe this story.
Parked the camera wagon about 20 yards from the trees they needed to get under. They hadn't been in position 5 minutes and I spotted one of the Osprey coming towards us. I told the MonkyZoom TEAM get ready, Osprey coming in. Now visualize this the osprey is flying around in circles above us and the TEAM is firing away at the empty nest.
I figured I needed to find them something easier than Osprey. I took then down to the cliffs for a try at turkey buzzards. We found some down at the bottom of the canyon and they started filling memory cards. Probably be a 200% crop.
I was thinking, "now this is gooood they see the buzzard and now they can get a couple of attempts at a live creature. I couldn't believe my eyes after Zoom points out the Buzzard to Monkey they decide to discuss their camera settings before shooting. As you can see the Buzzard was getting ready to fly off while they were figuring out their battle plan.
You can guess what happened after they had their plan figured out. Monkey can't figure out what happened and Zoom is trying to figure out if he was looking at the wrong tree.
I was really concerned now after all the TEAM had driven many miles to get a shot of something and it is obvious Osprey & Buzzards are to small for them to find. The only thing I could think of is the old stand by "Iron Horse". Now all I can do is hope they can find it. I got them real close to the track thinking the TEAM can handle this when it gets close enough.
When we got back to The Hotel they asked to borrow my memory cards and headed up to their rooms. A couple of hours later they brought me back my cards. I have no idea what they were doing with my memory cards for a few hours, but the cards sill had LOT"S of Osprey & Buzzard Keepers when they brought them back, so I am not going to worry about it.
I hope the story continues Wacky cause I am loving every second of it buddy! I was one step ahead when I saw the ZOOMer showing Monkey the LCD and seeing that bird in a 'sqaut to launch' position, oh my that is just too funny!
I guess if the TEAM posts any good images I should check the exif to see who's body they really came from! Nice choo-choo shot WAcky. I am loving that view down the canyon, gorgeous scenery. Keep an eye on these guys, they look like rookies

Thanks for ringing the bell in my head. I was wondering why Will insisted I take on of his Nikon's with me for a back up. To try and make him happy I was using both my Canon & one of his Nikon's. So the EXIF isen't going to help anybody learn anything.
Rookies you say ?? no where near that gooood. They kept getting lost and couldn't find the camera wagon so now they start yelling at me to tell them where I am. All the wildlife for miles runs and hides and they wonder why they can't see anything. It was so bad I had to put them on the train. I knew WHEN they got lost on the train I could find them in one of the cars since the train was moving it would be to difficult for them to get off the train.
Be sure to show the folks some of your wildflower shots.
MonkeyZoom the TEAM.
I am sitting in the camera wagon sipping on some coffee. The team is about 25 yards away waiting for some Osprey Action. I had me a cigarette and a few sips of coffee then looked back and it was major action at OspreyLand. A Rocky Mountain Blue bird was perched on a cedar tree about 25 yards away from the TEAM, a Magpie on the other side of them bouncing up and down on the ground, Pa & Ma had both shown up at the nest and both had a fish. I got me a big smile thinking "YUP!!! even the team is going to get a couple of keepers" and then I looked at the TEAM. They had no idea anything was going on cuz they were real busy bent over shooting at some wild flowers.
Being with these two for a couple of days is a experience I will never forget.
I can so see Ken doing that. He's a hoot & I can see that Will is the same.
Now that's a story to remember for this Fourth of July.
Excellent narrative Roger - story is just excellently documented for all time on the web now.
Lil
Lady Lil, stories from the TEAM at Wackyville are just getting started. I need to get them down before I forget them.
ZOOM & the RED deer. After we got back from riding the train I asked the TEAM what they wanted to shoot. Monkey was to tired to go out after all he had just spent 6 hours napping on the train in a plush seat so he went to the room for a needed nap. Zoom wanted a magpie to add to his collection. Off Zoom and I went to get his magpie, I asked him if he had a red deer in his collection and he said no but he would like to get a opportunity. After we got him a magpie I headed for some fields by the river for a Zoom RED deer opportunity. Found a couple of them so put the camera wagon in stealth mode (In drive with my foot lightly on the brake) stopped about 25 yards from them and shut off the camera wagon so there would be no vibration. I used a crow call to get their attention and sure enough the two of them looked right at us with a very curious look. I was waiting to hear Zooms shutter and then I was still waiting to hear Zooms shutter. Then I hear DAMN MY CARD IS FULL yup!! your guess is right the deer ran off.
On the way back to The Hotel I was thinking, YES!!! these big city fellows can do about anything.

Roger, I thought to come back and check up on the situation, as expected I see it got worse Shooting wildflowers and 'bent over' shooting wildflowers have two different connotations for me You may be paid off to recind that comment
Oh that is so NOT funny that ZOOM had a card full missed opportunity, I bet he was fit to be tied! I can see I need to stay tuned to TEAM updates, this is a most amazing adventure series!
Yuck it up boys. When the ZM and Monkey TEAM get home to download the trip's REAL photos we will see who laughs last On my blackberry so a real rebuttle is still forthcoming to these slanderous accusations!

Looking forward to more sir
Thanks for the nice comment Mr. Dave. Check back for more of the truth about the TEAM. I wanted to get this information out so any of you out there have the TEAM coming for a shoot you can be prepared.
I will post more later, right now I have to go outside and help with the major traffic jam. All the women and kids are coming back home to Chama as soon as the word got out that the TEAM had left has caused a major traffic jam cuz they all want to be back home for the fireworks show tonight.

Karl
Hey Karl, this should explain why the TEAM started a petition to give to Fred about starting a flower board . You probably would like that & this proves they would be real happy campers.
We were suppose to meet at the camera wagon in a hour, we all were downloading. I had a great opportunity planed for Osprey carrying fish. I had talked to Ma & Pa and they agreed to put on a gooood show. I got worried cuz the TEAM was like 1 hour late so I went up and knocked on their door no answer. Barbara said they had gone out so I head off to check the bars and restaurants. I ran into one of the train crew up by my place and he asked me what are your friends doing down in the rail yard garden ?
No need for me to say any more about this adventure.
P.S. You all should notice they both have been home for hours now and no posts. WHY ? They are posting all their photos at the Flowers & Buds discussion board.
