Ed got a great deal. I got mine for $1160. I sold it 9 months later for...$1180 I think. Either way, it was essentially a free 9 month rental. Great lens. I just prefer 100mm on full frame, so when I got the 1Ds II, I sold the 85L (partially to help pay for the upgrade on the body...which I was fine with since the 100mm focal length appeals to me more anyway).

Wow you guys got really good deals! It seems the going rate is approx. $1200. I know that it focus slowly but can anyone comment on the focusing accuracy with a 5d 1 using peripheral focus points?
