p.1 #1 · Road America AMA 09

Figured I would share a few pics from the AMA weekend at road america. The weather as usual sucked so the lighting was a bit tough for my rented 400 5.6 lense experiment but it did better then expected. I used a canon 40D body for all pics.

1. Ben Bostrom exiting turn 1. I love the head on wheelie over the curb shots you can get from a bigger zoom. Im used to a 70 -200 normally

All in all I got some decent keepers but some were on the softer side for my taste. Maybe some year the lighting will cooperate a bit. Until then, I'll keep on practicing.

you got some good shots, I liked #2 the most, that is a really good shot IMO. I prefer to see the color of racing vehicles, being that they are so brightly liveried, B&W just doesn't do much for me.

Cool pictures, loving the head-on wheelies as well!

I do agree that bright-colored liveries work better, though, overall, good work!

I'm guessing that tracking is easier on the camera with longer focal-lengths, was that your experience as well?

i like bw with these images....just add more contrast to them.

the colors ONLY work best if the lighting it great.

The tracking is only easier if you have the line of sight far enough down track. Most of the shots the bikes come into view fairly qucikly like the ones wheeling down the hill so it can be tough at times. I like the B&W's, and agree the colors are awesome but you do need the light for it, which most of the weekend I didnt have.
