p.1 #1 · Why is it?

I put a post up asking for C&C, I get 186 views with 1 reply (thanks btw!), and when I post other images just to share, I get hammered with C&C, not that I mind that, as I am always open to it for improvement, but I was asking for it for this:

because I don't normally shoot this way, and was trying something different for my style of shooting, and want to improve. Or is it, that the pictures are that GREAT--which I hardly think so!

Thank You

Scott

comments go in waves. I posted baseball last night, have not posted photos in a long time, have been hit and miss over the last year, but still moderating, and still working, but no comments. Am I worried? No. If people are like me, I have been working quite a bit doing a lot of little jobs and just get worn out and posting comments to other peoples posts are the last thing on my mind. As my workload eases I get more time to spend online and post critiques.

I also think that when the subject isn't a mainstream sport like baseball etc then those of us who are unfamiliar with the sport you shot can't really give you an educated answer.

If you posted photos of wrestling I'd have nothing for you...but I might help you if you post a shot of MX, Baseball, Soccer or something I have experience in.

This is why "I" think you didn't get many replies.

I've had posts go with a 200+ views and 1-2 replies. It is what it is.

I think I know why you did not get a response.

Your post did not include one or more of the following.

1. A cluttered background.
2. A tilted horizon.
3. A derogatory remark about a guy with expensive gear.
4. A derogatory remark about a guy with cheap gear.
5. A derogatory remark about a guy with a point and shoot on a tripod.
6. A derogatory remark about whomever has the contract where your kid plays ball.
7. A question about trading photos for credentials.
8. A question about taking a D3x with a 600mm lens into the stands of a major league baseball game.
9. A response from the anointed one to trigger forty "+1", "^what he said" responses.

And my favorite.........

10. A question that leads to the "Your question doesn't contain enough information for me to give you a proper answer" response.

I don't have a clue why you didn't hear from the " What camera, lens, settings, underwear etc?" crowd.

Marty

Really, just tryin' to lighten things up a little.

Hey - could be everyone who normally gives C&C is on vacation!

I wonder if the name of the poster makes a difference.....if people see one of the established names in a forum post a shot, do they flock to that thread to ooh and aah over the great shot they know is waitin for them? If it's a no-name newbie, do you think that makes a difference in how willing people are to comment?

I have wondered that same thing, being a n00b around here. Someone over in the Landscape Section wondered if his shots were not quite good enough to get the "oohs and aahs", but not bad enough to get some real crits on. I have to admit, when you are after crits, and get 300+ views, and 1 or 2 comments, it is disheartening, and can be frustrating. can't let it get you down though.

for me it's because there is a filter for flilckr and photobucket where I work. Can't see 'em! There - that should generate some traffic from the "yer sposed to be workin' not lookin' at pickshers" crowd...

see the same on all the other forums,, unless it is one where the least little comment will generate a rash of rants, many are just looking at the photos for content and perhaps to assist their work,,

I noticed a while back on the Wedding Photography forum that someone set up a thread where people could post their shots anonymously for C&C. That way you could post and have people give an honest, unbiased response in spite of your experience, talent, or the way that some people might pigeon hole you into a particular stereotype. Interesting approach!
