p.1 #1 · Pink and Blue

Two night and two sunsets with my favorite combo. The first is again in the area of my last post, I liked that I was able to include a crayfish in it. (Bottom middle) The second, from an oft visited lake. I found this natural bonsai buttonwood and had tried some shots before but really like this one with the risen waters.

Thanks for all the comments on the last.

Paul

Number 2 is very appealing, very interesting composition. Nice capture. Number 1 is also good but in a different way.

Nice set - I like each of these for entirely different reasons and see no reason why I have to choose one over the other. The first one has a delightful array of visual elements to partake of all over the place in the foreground, and of course nice skies to boot.

The second one is pure simplicity that works well - the reflections add just enough complexity and color to the focal subject in the image to keep my interest lingering over the shot.

Nice work.

Again, killer fg on the first one but the second one - just wow, beautifully minimalistic.

The foreground in 1 is outstanding. I am even more drawn to 2. So simple, so effective.

Hi Paul, love the minimalism of the second one Glad to see you posting images with these cloud conditions. I have a recent very similar set, but in a different setting, and no mud-bug . I was worried no one would believe those colors really obtained. .

Thanks guys, no need to choose. Two very different types of shots. Thanks for the comments,

Thanks Hugh, the first has hardly anything done, 3 stop hard gnd and then raw conversion. And the second was basically the same. I felt like I should do something in Photoshop but they just came out right.

Lovely images Paul, I like the first one because you capture very good colors which made very common elements look really nice. And I like the second one because of the colors and simplicity of the image. Well done!

Hey Paul,

Really cool shots! I love the detail in #1, that crayfish in the shot is really awesome!

I love the minimalist approach of #2. #1 is great on one hand, but the fg to me is messy and spoils the mood.

Thanks guys, 2 is definitely going in the portfolio. I'm trying to develop a simpler series that will probably go on canvas.

Have a great weekend and be safe,

I was wondering if a grad was used in the 1st. Superb work here to show nary a sign of it!!!!
Lovely light on the fg and grasses....delightful image.
The 2nd is very cool. Love the reflected light and color gradient, and the comp is perfect.

When you are not shooting directly into the sun and on a flat land like Florida, ND filters are highly effective. Good work Paul. One of these days we will have to brave the hot humid conditions of Florida.

I love the second shot for its simplicity.

I love your 2nd shot in particular. The blue reflections of the plant really make the shot. I bet this one would print well at a very large size.

I feel no *need* to choose one over the other, but I will anyway.

The first is certainly a well executed image with a LOT going on, but the elegant simplicity of the second is just excellent.

I like the first, the range of colour is wonderful, but for me the second is the star. I find that shot ot be very original and pleasing on the eye. Yet another great example of how effective simplicity can be.
