Up for sale is my trusty Tammy 200-500mm. Since I picked up my 300 f4 and 1.7 TC the Tammy has been sitting around collecting dust so its time to let her go to fund my D700 desires!
The Lens is in excellent shape and is very sharp.
The Tamron is a great long lens for the price the only knock on it is that it is that it can be slow to focus in low light.

Sorry for the strange question: do you have any general idea whether this lens would "go OK" (especially at 500 mm) with a D300 for surfing photography?

I think the lens would do fine. I shoot with a D300 and used this lens to shoot soccer. As I said in my original post if the light is low it is somtimes slow to focus but in good light the D300 snaps the focus in fine.
