Kind of neat, but it would have been super cool if you could have allowed the light to drop off before it hit the plane. these on a black background would be pretty cool. jmo.

Sorry - but in my opinion, it didnt work. The poses are forced and awkward. She just may be not tall enough to get the poses you were after? Her extended leg looks strained.

Also, the extra light and plane look like they were an accident. Maybe you wanted them there, but they contribute nothing to what I think you meant to be the subject of the photo.

I agree with both above, but even more, the lighting just doesn't do anything but expose her. She doesn't look either happy or flirty.

By the way, does the bike come with that attachment as standard equipment, or is that an after market luxury add-on?

slightly off topic but could she actually walk in those boots?
I agree that having the back ground is a bit distracting, might be interesting to render it black in PS

I like these. Kind of a Wendy O Williams vibe. - But I don't like the plane in the background. It's too distracting and doesn't really add any interest.

Off Topic: Any idea why those exhaust pipes are wrapped? I've never seen that before.

It helps keep them and the air inside them warm helping the exhaust to escape more efficiently. Hot pipes create a higher exhaust velocity allowing for less resistance on the engine during the exhaust stroke. That will create an increase in effective horsepower.

Ya that's thermal wrap on there.

The posing is just OK, not great though IMO. It's also a bit of a shame that you were able to shoot in a hangar with a plane, yet the background is almost black and the plane is barely visible. An extra light could've helped out, but even opening up your aperture, bumping your ISO, and using a longer shutter speed would've done wonders.

Lighting on the model is quite good, i.e. balanced, but overall the images are riddled with problems. Yes the plane and background light is quite distracting, as is all the competing light sources and non-subject highlights all over. Remember that the eye will go to the brightest part of a picture first, and then to the darkest. If these motivate a movement around the whole picture without interruption, you have a more pleasing photo.

I suggest you look into some better posing technique as well, the poses of the model is so-so (as per Mike) but you may do well to remember that the prop (the bike in this case) have to be in synergy with the model. This is not the case here.

If you have a scene with so many distracting objects in the background, rather pump up the ambient exposure a notch to give the viewer enough information of what is actually there, so as to not keeping them wondering.

Anyways, good effort for your first attempts, Happy Shooting

The nose of the plane is intrusive on the last two, but I think they are well done!

I like the B&W conversion minus the big white splotch, you could easily clone that out.

The rest as mentioned have not so great posing and the model doesn't capture the attention I think this sort of shot is going after.

Thanks for the feedack guys... again, I'm not a pro, and usually more of a journalistic style photographer in the past, so posing techniques and controlled lighting situations are really my weak-points...

but practice makes perfect, right?

Thank you Tony... constructive criticism is always welcome... I'll be doing some more shoots in the aircraft hanger I think so hopefully I can take into account some of the info from this board!

I think you did a nice job with the lighting. My favorite of the bunch is # 1 becaue of her pose, facial expression, the angle and lighting.

What is that on the motorcycle's tailpipes? Heat protective wrapping? They didn't have that in my day. What kind of bike is it? As for the pictures, I prefer #1. They are all forced looking, but not too bad. Next time get a taller model with a bigger frame and get her relaxed before shooting.

I dont know if anyone has mentioned this but -

They are good photographs. I like them a lot.

They have their problems - but since everyone has already pointed them out, I'll just tell you that my very very first impression of them was that I liked them, Particularly the last one -

Good Job, keep up the good work!
