How does this software compare to InDesign? Has anyone used both?
I found that Adobe InDesign is a very "manual" process whereas Lumapix is almost automatic. LumaPix is very easy to use and can create some very nice designs in a matter of minutes.
Thanks for the response! I think I'll download the trial and play with it. The big sticking point for me is that the license for Canadians is over $400 (CAD)! I already have InDesign....I'll need to decide if Fotofusion is $400 better!
Determine if you NEED all of the features of the premium version. You may be happy enough with the mid version. You can always upgrade for a few dollars more if you want more out of the program. I think the mid version serves the purpose of most users.
For me the greatest benefit of the Extreme is the ability to export to layers. Other than that *I* could have done without the other features. I had to ask myself was the export to layers feature worth it; my answer was a resounding yes because it allowed me to do customized edits in PS.
...exporting to layers can be huge to some. Then again you can easily go back into Fotofusion and do edits.
In the past I've read about others who worry about the size limit in the Enhanced. I never found this to be an issue because I easily upsized the final layout to what I needed it to be. You couldn't even tell the difference.
Aw crap....looks like it's the Extreme version for me too! Batch export and Export to Layers sound invaluable....especially if I want to add swirly things and/or textures (ok..I could do this in PS using a flat JPG...but layers are sooooo much easier!).
You can add swirly things (embellishments) and/or textures right in Fotofusion. I has a lot of free embellishments, plus you can buy more or create your own.

that sounds really cool
maybe some people can post examples of the excellent creative designs they have created in this program
I wonder if all of us FF users would be willing to share some album templates. They are very easy to make, you can save any project as a template (it will ask if you want to remove photos, and that's it, you're done!).
I know this company uses FF for their album designs. If you like it give them a call and they will help you.
They have some nice samples on this page: http://wedoodledo.com/index.php/design/wedding/
