The Camera Store is the local pro store here in Calgary, and their service is generally quite good. You're probably better off shopping their online store, as the bricks-and-mortar store is usually so busy it's hard to get help if you're shopping in person.

I'm not sure what their shipping policies are for sending goods to the US, so that would be the first thing I would ask. Try to deal with a store that ships via Canada Post; it might take a couple of days longer than UPS or FedEx, but it will probably cost you a lot less in the end.

Also, remember that your credit card company will likely charge you about 2.5% more than the "official" exchange rate for foreign currency purchases, so you have to factor that into your price calculations.

Appreciate it Cliff. I guess I may not be saving much in the end after all. I believe The Camera Store has a flat rate $25 dollar shipping fee to the US (I may be confusing myself with another Canadian store. I was snooping around a bit!).

Aden is a pretty good Canadian retailer. I would say they are like the Adorama of Canada

Plus if you phone them up and speak with Eddie you are talking with the owner. And, they tend to have multiples of every Canon and Nikon product in stock.

Well, been watching BH and Adorama for a while and no movement, so I ordered from Norman. Did some research and didn't find anything to raise a red flag, except I've never heard of them. We'll see how it goes.

I received the 5DMK2 today, went through some hassle (being charged twice) but a couple phone call should take care of it, haven't test out the camera yet, still charging the battery...

Call B&H, let them charge your credit card and when they receive it they fill your order first. Might take a week or two but it's better than wasting a lot of time searching on the internet plus you buy from the best or one of the best photography retailers around. Of course, if you like hunt and seek keep waiting for an internet dealer to show stock, might be a long wait.

Anybody roll the dice with Pyxis Camera on fleabay?

The $2,499 with free shipping price is pretty good, I emailed them and they claim it's a USA model with USA warranty and all manuals and accessories.

I see they have a new fleabay listing for their $2,648 5D2 kit (tripod, CF cards, etc) and on that listing they clearly state that the body is a USA model with USA warranty. The current body-only 5D2 auction doesn't say USA anywhere.

They have a dismal rating on http://www.resellerratings.com/seller19165-p2-s1-d1.html (the postitive reviews are probably plants), but their fleabay feedback isn't too bad...

And with the current MS Live Cashback / Paypal rebate (I've used the rebate a bunch of times and it works great) it brings the final price to $2,300 shipped.

I bought mine from Kenmore Camera after reading this thread. Bear in mind that I had already been on backorder with J&R for two weeks. I read this thread, called J&R to find out where in the stack I was. They told me I was 25th in line (after 2 weeks!!!) and no idea when my order would be filled. The telephone rep did place several calls to try to acertain when they could fill my order. Each time she called me back with no real information. So I called back to cancel my order. J&R offered to lower the price by like $40 or something pointless like that. After hanging up with them I called Kenmore and my order shipped that day! Thanks Kenmore! My package arrived here in Vacaville, CA on Thursday and the townsfolk rejoiced. Not to be too hateful... but if Kenmore can fill an order this easy... J&R can piss up a rope.

My thoughts exactly. There are all kinds of issues with the white dots, squeaky door, it's water-damage prone, and the camera cannot focus reliably enough to save its own life - and yet it seems that demand is far outstripping supply .... 4 months after it was first released .... and when the economy is at an all time low and most people think more than 12 megapixels is complete overkill. What's happening here?

I'm actually a bit surprised by this and its making me wonder. Obviously demand is outstripping supply but that doesn't necessarily mean demand is huge, it could be that supply is miniscule. Anyone have any numbers for how many bodies are actually getting sold? Any comparisons to the same time frame after the 5D release?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was selling at hotcakes, anyone who is happy with a 5D will probably be very happy with the 5D2. However something doesn't smell right here.
