I wonder if you can help, do you happen to know how much these lenses go for here on FM, I know they are rare................It's just that I have two friends here in the UK who have paid a non refundable deposit on 2 new ones! One is a Canon mount the other a Nikon, the Canon guy is going to buy the Canon 800mm F5.6L [ lucky git ] & Tony [Nikon guy] is going to scale down in length & get a 600mm VR..............anyway guys can anyone tell me what these are worth in the USA? As i say they are new, I will be in Arizona on the 2nd March & could bring them with me, yes they are large I know but that's the joy of working at BA
I see they are $7k at Amazon & a few other places.
Oh yes, they are both the DG versions And yes the guys are crap at making decisions
Why sell them in the US? The exchange rate between euros/pounds vs dollars makes it very difficult to get their money's worth. You should be getting a better price for the lenses in Europe - and no tax problems, either.
Are they getting them at a good price? have they paid a large deposit. They may be better off just walking away from the deal before they have to pay the full price.
I guess that the way the exchange rate is its probably a better time to try and export them but europe may be the better place.
I dont doubt that they will sell them but it may take a few attempts and the risk of looseing alot is high.

I wouldn't have caught that if you hadn't mentioned it. Prices have changed a lot in the past year, and his friends probably sold the lenses already.
