Hi, Jim.

It was taken on a Canon 40D.

Yes, Mat - it was very scenic. I enjoyed the drive despite the displeasure from my kids who complained that I stopped too frequently to take pictures.

The first one is beautiful. But the second one has too much vignetting for my liking.

Cheers guys! As for vignetting, it is probably a matter of taste.

Before I saw your pics with the zuiko 18, I thought vignetting wide open was a weakness of a lens. But, aside from the fact that it is so easily correctable, I have grown to like vignetting.
I love both shots!

Anyone know where I can find a 49-72 hood/adapter for my zuiko 18? Even a push on cap would be helpful. I feel so exposed when I carry my camera with the 18 on it. That bulbous front lens element seems to be crying out for something to scratch it.

the original 49-72s are fairly hard to find. Expect to pay at least $50 if you find one in the open market. There's some DIY methods using step-up rings to get the equivalent made via a couple step-ups and/or an empty filter, but it's not as nice a solution.

You can make a push-on cap w/o too much trouble. I made one from the cap from a spice container, (McCormick I think was the brand - it was red, the cap that is...), basically it just required a little sanding on the inside edge of the cap to make it a snug fit. Worked pretty well overall.

There was a 49>72 Zuiko ring on eBay some days ago.

I must have missed it. I can't find it now, but I am never sure I am finding everything listed on e-bay.

I watch e-bay pretty closely, but must admit to letting it slide periodically. Just my luck that the hood comes available when I am not watching.

You didn't want that one anyway, it was $100+ I think.

The places to find stuff like this cheap is everywhere *other* than ebay. Google is your friend. ;-)

The "everywhere other" then e-bay is the problem. I google, search the online equipment vendors, call shops, etc. etc. No luck. I always find lots of interesting info on the lens itself, but never a hood.

At this point I would probably pay $100.00 for one. Anyone want to sell theirs?
