Cool angle - where are you shooting from?

I agree, I noticed immediately the angle, I havent seen many surf pictures like that (although I havent seen many surf pictures :P). It reminds me of a helicopter angle in skiing? I would say number 3 is my favourite for that reason.

One problem with shooting from the pier is that it flattens out the wave. Also, it looks like the whites are blown out and you were shooting on a cloudy day. I try to only shoot when the light is good (early mornings and evenings) for best results.

I know that pier, sometimes the view on the beach is better LMAO
Best shot I got off of that pier was a seagull sitting on top of the roof over Ruby's takeout window crapping on people, J/K.
Last time iI was there it was overcast too.

one thing the angle does do, that I don't like.... it does not give any emphasis to the size or shape of the wave. I understand that dues to lens restrictions shooting from the beach may not be ideal, but the lower angle I think offers a more....exciting.... perspective

Sometimes the pier has its advantages.
While I agree that most of the time the images look better from the beach.
It is an embarassment to post this but I got the action, missed on camera settings. Should have been a money shot but I blew it.
This one was taken on the North side of the same pier. Couldnt be possible from the beach.
