I spent the New Year in Yosemite, with my wife, in a tent. We were actually there for 5 days and had a really nice trip. My current plague of cloudless skies continued until Friday, be careful what you wish for, and it rained pretty hard.
This is New Year's Eve morning. We parked near Ahwahnee Meadow and snowshoed in about a mile to this lovely scene.
Sounds like a fine time Doug. Nice winter pick of half dome. Very pretty. Had I a nit it would be that it appears a little too cyan. Glad you had a fine time.

I love the dark trees with frosty trees in front of them. They make an interesting pattern. I also love the blues of this shot. Very, very lovely shot.

Lovely capture, Doug. Well done with the lighting. The frosty trees are wonderful.
Barry
Thanks Barry. We'd made plans to be there for New Years and I was afraid that we'd be too late after the Christmas storms. There was plenty of virgin snow around as long as you weren't afraid to stray from the beaten path.

Thanks Jim. You may be right as I haven't calibrated in a while. I did play with warming it up some but I think the blue cast helps the cold feel.

Sharon
That's what struck me too Sharon. We'd been snowshoeing down the river and popped into this clearing. It was like a surprise party.

Very nice capture Doug. The light was nice and balanced throughout the shot.
Mike
Thanks Mike. The top was a little hot so I pulled it down with a 2 stop soft grad.

Wonderful scene. So calm and beautiful. Love it.
Ute
Thank you Ute. There's something very peaceful about being someplace, no matter how far from the road, where the only tracks in the snow are from you.

What strikes me most are the layers of the snowy trees and the dark conifers, and the river, snow, and half dome of course very neat.
Thanks Floris. Me too. I loved the feel of it. I would, however, killed for some puffy clouds.

Hi Doug
Nicely done. I dont think i have seen this view often.
Jehanzeb
Thanks Jehanzeb. It's not very hard to get to but it isn't a well traveled spot. It was a pleasant surprise to come around the bend and be presented with that scene.
