p.1 #1 · In Randy's Tripod Holes

A couple of weeks ago Randy Walton presented a nice image of where many tripods have gone before. Well, some have been there since then, like mine. Thanks for the tip, Randy, this one's for you....

Hey Jeffrey,

Now there we go. That is one of the best shots of the Gates of the Valley I have seen this year! You really captured the snow capped rocks and grasses well, and the light is hitting El Cap just right.

Great image. Depth, focus, colors, composure, interest all great. Fantastic - Scott

[Is that a dust spot, or the top of a tree, middle slightly right above the mountains? I would be inclined to clone it out]

Marvelous shot Jeffrey. Love the frozen mist. As much as I would love the credit for this location sir, alas, it wasn't me that pointed it out. No doubt some other Tim out there deserves the credit for this spectacular location.

Oooops, I'm bad! Sorry, Tim, it was Randy Walton I was thinking of. Rather than looking it up, I tried to rely on my memory. I gotta stop doing that, it always results in disaster....

Scott, sharp eye! That is a tree that looks fine in the print, but does look like a dust bunny in the jpeg. I shoulda removed it.

Beautiful! What makes this one special, I think, is that there appears to be much more snow at the valley floor than in similar shots I've seen here recently. The snow is completely blanketing those rocks, and you can just feel the weight of it on those trees.

Superb shot from this wonderful Yosemite location Jeffrey! It might well be an icon but each and every shot is unique as is your wonderful image. I like your perspective from down by the rocks and the low angle. Come back in February and you can place your tripod in another can't miss spot! Hope you and John enjoyed your Yosemite shoot!

What a splendid view. The location might be iconic, but one should never get tired of shots like this. I like the natural looking light and the fog (and the snowcaps of course).

Very nice. I love the rising mist amongst the trees and the contrasted effect this has with the foreground and background.

I'm with Jim on this one, you've captured the light perfectly on El Cap.

The misty valley floor and snow add a lot to this famous scene.
Really nicely done, Jeffrey!
