After upgrading to a D700, I've ordered a cheapo 19-35 to start out learning about landscape photography. I have a bit of experience with ND grads, and decided today to go out and shoot the awesome sunset near my house:
I'd love some creative crit about anything you can pick up on - I really love landscaping but I feel I have a way to go.
the color is great. Im no landscape photographer, but I love when their is something in the foreground. ie a branch, or big rock. But I like this one! The water has a great feel.
alright so that doesn't look like how I spaced out the periods, to slope that is! The image has great color and you controlled the exposure very well, agree that the image could use a anchor visually in the foreground.
This is pretty nice. Very good color, and the slower shutter speed makes the water look cool. Two things though, one that is already mentioned is the horizon. It curves a bit from the WA distortion and it is a bit unlevel. Level it first, and then use the Lens Correction Filter in Photoshoto and take the curve out of the horizon. The second thing is when adding a bit of saturation to a shot like this, use the lasso and then feather it a bit to just increase the colors in the sky. If you do the whole shot, the whites in the water really go cyan on you. Some cyan in the whites is natural when shooting late in the day, but there is too much in the whites.
Lets see some more now!
