Everyone has been crowding the beaches for the holidays the last few weeks so I decided to head up the mountains for a different view of Hawaii. This time of the year always seems to yield good results up there. These are from Mauna Kea and Kohala mountains on the Big Island.
I'm with Jason.....never would have placed Hawaii, here.
I really like the light and gnarly old tree in the 2nd, and the last is like the classic screensaver

#1 is an awesome shot.
Thanks everyone and, yes, the island of Hawaii has Parker Ranch which is one of the largest (or the largest depending on who you ask) cattle ranches in the US. Of course, in order to feed cattle, you need fields and we've got lots of them up in the mountains
While I was taking the third shot, several cars saw me out there set up with my tripod and pulled over to get their own photos or see what I was looking at. Pretty much everyone who stopped mumbled, "What the hell is he taking a picture of?"
