Still sorting out shots from the ‘Birds of Eden’ aviary at Plettenburg. A lot of the birds here have been donated by people who had had then as pets and are unable to look after them anymore. Paradise retirement for bird’s almost unrestricted flight.
Nice series Carl... what a beautiful variety of birds, great location.
Very nice IF shot of the Macaw... but #8 is my favorite, gorgeous color and super sharp.
Hello Carl...
Were some of these birds shot in a zoo? The conure and maccaw are South & Central American species... I hope they were zoo animals, as they would compete directly with South Africa's native parrot populations....
As for the photography, the Flamingo is a great shot!
cheers,
bruce

Very nice set Carl, You might have lost the whites in #10 a little, but shooting white in the Sun is pretty tricky!
Merv.
Thanks Merv, beginner really and coming from the UK certainly not used to the light conditions as they were in SA. Every direction required changing settings and shooting into light for me was hard work. But I had fun for once

Thanks Kirk, like that one myself.

Hi Bruce, No they are not in a zoo but in the worlds largest aviary 'birds of Eden' at Plettenberg on the Western Cape of South Africa. It covers a small valley and takes a couple of hours to walk round, slowly of course. For me as a beginner it was great, unfortunately I could only spend 3 hours there. It has a web site if you want to check it out.
