Both work really well, i like the textures and the grittiness of the first and the colours add a different dimension in the second. Difficult to choose a favourite
I like them both, too, Gavin. But I prefer the color version, as I feel the wet colors of the rocks set off the ice and stream a little more. I didn't even notice the water in the B&W version.

Sometimes one opts for BW because what seems to contribute most to a shot is not its range of colours, but rather its texture and structure. But although the colour range is limited in this, it seems to give a lift of life and light to the scene. It might be to do with the BW processing of the shot, but the colour version seems more vivid to me, and the warmer brown tones work well off the cold tones of ice and water. An opinion! And both are fine shots!
