I was hoping I could get some recomendations for books that focus on fashion photography, preferably with in depth lighting information. i tried a search on here and elsewhere on the web and come across some random ones that looked good but thought i should check here first. thanks in advance guys!

Have you considered posting your topic in a forum such as "Studio and Lighting Techniques" or "People Photography"
I like the books put out by GAP (clothing) company. Portraiture is not that original, but it is aesthetically pleasing. They don't have a lot of lighting information though, only finished product.
There really are no books that I know of that are quality resources for lighting fashion images. I think the best thing to do is to assist a photographer that shoots the subject. I worked with a couple that shot fashion, lifestyle and portraits. It will give you a point to start from and then go from there. Once you have a basic knowledge, you can look at just about anything and come close to recreating it.
The Rotovision "Photographing People, Portraits, Fashion, Glamour" volume. Steve Bavister's "Lighting for..." series. I'm currently reading "Unseen Vogue" and finding it fantastic, though there's no technical info. Michael Grecco's "Lighting and the Dramatic Portrait" applies just as equally to fashion.
But yes, the best thing you can do is assist other photographers whose work you admire.
Dolce & Gabbana ads don't look like GAP ads which don't look like Marc Jacob ads which don't look like Dior ads which don't look like Louis Vuitton ads which don't look like Burberry ads ... you get the picture.
Get some magazinea like Interview http://www.interviewmagazine.com/ and Vogue http://www.style.com/vogue/ at your local Barnes & Noble or Borders. Reverse engineer the lighting. You will see that much of it is a simple lighting set-up. Remember you are selling clothes, not doing model portraites

well yeah, i never said fashion lighting. i said books specifically on fashion photography that preferably include lighting information, too. anyways, thanks for the replies all! i will check out all the recommendations. i did read 'lighting and the dramatic portrait' which i enjoyed a lot and im reading 'the moment it clicks' by joe mcnally which is great but a little more editorial then what i was looking for if that makes sense. assisting probably is the best thing overall...
try
"Lighting Cookbook for Fashion and Beauty Photography: Foolproof Recipes for Taking Perfect Portraits"
by Jenni Bidner, Eric Bean
the book has very detailed lighting plans using various modifiers.
