2nd day of my trip, on the way to Carrizozo to meet up with Al Maestas.
Driving down Hwy 54 between Santa Rosa and Vaughn, a narrow band of clouds on the horizon allowed some rapidly evolving sunrise color to frame this guy.
Couldn't pass it up! Flipped a u-ey, got out the 100-400 and caught these about 6 minutes apart.
1) 285mm, 1/640th @ f5.6, iso 640 (to stop the windmill in the brisk wind)
2) 370mm, 1/400th @ f5.6, " " ".
I thought to myself....'what a great start to the day!' I hope you enjoy, too.
Thanks, Tim. Glad you like them.
I should have mentioned I focused on the windmill, which was several hundred yards off the hwy, leaving the close-by vegetation somewhat oof. Sorry.
Both are good but the first gets my vote. I love the deep colours. Being reeeaaally nitpicky, I would lose the 1 1/2 bits of shrubs on the very left of the horizon.
You are very right, what a start to the day!!
Ute
That is sweet! What a great start to your day for sure, well and a great finish too... with shots like that to start your day, it would make your whole day great. I really like the cropped versions here. Super!
Super way to start a day. You were fortunate to be in a place where you could maneuver to take advantage of the conditions, and certainly made the most of them Good work.
Al.... All you gotta do is be up before the chickens and go for a drive in the country!
Thanks much, Binh!
Hi Jehanzeb. Glad you like. Thanks!
Hey Jim! It was a sweet start to the day, and it ended with meeting Al and seeing you again, so it was great from start to finish!!
Yeah, Hugh, not many cars or trucks out that morning, so I was lucky! Thanks, pal
Thanks, Craig. Must have seen a thousand of 'em in west Texas and eastern New Mexico.
It is the old west, Sharon!! Thanks very much!!
Hey David. Thanks, man!
Looks good Barry, good thing you stopped and were able to find something to put in the foreground. I especially like the darker orange layers in the first, well done.
Thanks Carolyn, but it's a sunrise (sorry!)
Hey Will. Thanks so much. Leave it to you to miss boids. I think it was too early even for them
Thanks, Martin.
Hi Todd. Thanks much!
