p.1 #1 · Coniwingo Dam

Counted only 7-10 eagles today at Coniwingo Dam, on the Susquehanna River, MD, I was wondering if anyobne knows if the congregration of the eagles is winding down now?

Here is an image taken a few weeks ago at the dam using a Canon 40D and a 400L 5.6. (If I insert this correctly?)

Very nice shot...I do think it is starting to wind down...although there are plenty of eagles you wont see there.

That is a wonderful capture of the eagle in flight!!! I would be tempted to crop it in a bit, for I think that would really make the eagle stand out!!!

Brenton, I thought about a tighter crop. and may still do this. But I also like the inclusion of the water environment, the color gradation that the water reflected and the space the comp provides for the eagle to move into. This version prints out really sweet on my Epson 3800. For me I especailly love how the light off the water is reflectes on the underside of one of the eagles wings. Looks like I may stick around Pohick Bay in Northern Virginia, with the hopes of the eagle numbers increasing in January. Still like the birdseye perspective possibilities afforded at Coniwingo. Here are some shots taken at Pohick last week:

I was there in tuesday, and roughly the same situation. In 3 hours there, I saw only 4 in flight over the river, and none actually went for a fish. I did see 5 or 6 in the trees along the path by the river, but was really disappointed.

Great shots by the way

Great shots....

I think I will rent a lens and spend a day...

What's the best location for the Eagles ?? Where do you park to get down to the path along the river?

Thanks
Lou
