I'd chime in and say that it's more about finding presets that work for you... my guess is the free ones can be useable but if Spencer has gone to the effort to create specific ones he uses in his workflow and his finished product they're well worth the now "Low" price of admission.... I just picked up mine!

It's just like actions.. you can go and find "free" ones - and I'm sure there's alot of them out there... but you purchased Actions from TRA or Kubota... you get the picture! these are tried and true used by professionals.

I'm in Spencer...

Darn! Just came across this thread and would love to have gotten them. $59 was a great price

Oh well, hopefully you'll do a sale again soon. The wife gets a bit testy when I buy these things

They are different animals. Think of it as CS3 is for things like open heart surgery, while LR2 is like going to a general clinic. LR2 is what i use for 95% of my photo editing, and it is quicker, easier, and more organized, and lets you view and work on all of your images at the same time, and apply changes to groups of images in a very organized way. For complicated things, I open up into Photoshop. LR2 has got to be like four times faster for the vast majority of things. It is so much better for most stuff that i would hate to be without it.

The sales price was great, I wanted to shoot but alas I ran out of bullets.
Now with them being punted on the Blog is found I'm afraid I might have missed a chance at getting them at that price again.

The holiday sale was sort of a one time thing, I might have one in the future on my birthday or something (just for giggles) but right now the price will remain constant. It was goign to go up to $99 at the beginning of the year, but I decided to keep it at $79.

one thing you might consider is spelling out free updates on future improvements

This would be a given, any updates to the current set would get a free upgrade to all users. Since there isn't really much to upgrade, it doesn't really need it . . . but I could see some minor tweaks here in 6 months or so, FREE to everyone who has purchased . . .
