So why does my Lighroom 2 say no updates available when I tell it to check?

Yep! It's there alright. I just snaged it, 129.8MB file size. Thanks Jim.

I'm just curious, does the program feel faster? I'm on a Mac Pro dual quad core and granted the program has never been slow, but now it slams the pictures up on the screen.
Just wondering?

Strange, when I start LR it gives the message there's an update.

It takes Adobe a little longer to put it in place for the update check within LR. It's really available.

It also updates the camera profile or something ... the old pictures are untouched when I update to this version?

Hendrik, it simply gives you access to the new camera profiles (which were beta so far) in the Camera Calibration panel of the Develop module, so that you can apply these profiles to your RAW files as you see fit. By default the camera profile was ACR 4.4 in LR2, I don't see any reason why your old files should jump to a new camera profile on their own - at least mine didn't when I upgraded to 2.2 - it's only a new option so it should be safe. And even then you can easily revert it and come back to the ACR 4.4 profile for your old files.

The profile names are different and the old as well as the new ones can be used.

By the way; how can I remove the beta-profiles?

Which platform? On a Mac, it's hardrive - Library - Application Support - Adobe - CameraRaw

I can't help you with Windows but the question is "which version of Windows". It's different for XP and Vista.

I just stumbled across this:

http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/DNG_Profiles_FAQ#WhereInstall

This answers the question for all supported platforms.

Deleting the "Camera beta 1" folder is all you need to do.

I downloaded the 2.2 update last night through the update function within LR.
Smooth and easy download and update...fully automatic.
Cheers,
Scott

Hmm... unfortunately the only file I see in the folder (I'm on a Mac) is called "Index.dat" and that's it, no "beta 2" folder in there. Any ideas?
