Cold Weather Camera Gloves

I figured most everybody here takes some photos in the winter and a winter problem is cold hands and fingers. I purchased these at Walmart for around $10.00 a pair in the hunting section. They were in a sale bin.They only had 2 pair left in the basket so I bought both. I will be buying a 1/2 dozen or more the next time I go to Walmart so I will have back ups. I am not sure if these are mittens or gloves but I do know they work real gooood.

Actually I was thinking of getting a good pair of gloves for picture taking this winter, but couldn't think of a pair that would keep my hands warm, and allow me to shoot easily, these however look like they will do the trick! Thanks roger for the heads up!

i thought that pad on the back of your hand was for wiping your nose until i saw the last pic. lol.

If you wear thin polypropylene gloves underneath you can extend the time you have the mitt flaps open. I tried it last weekend at 0 degrees F and it worked great.

The local Canadian Walmart has almost identical ones, except they are a beige wool with brown leather gripping and have Thinsulate inside. They have a bin full at regular price of $4.97CDN.

Oh, and they have a pad on the back for wiping your nose.

These look identical to the pair I picked up at Dick's Sporting Goods a few months ago to use for cold weather shooting. The mitten finger pocket is great for holding a warming pad too.

Don't need it. All the jackets, coats and sweaters I own have sleeves for wiping my nose.......

I have bought "winter mechanix" gloves. These are made for actual car mechanics to use while repairing vehicles in winter. They have very grippy rubber on the surfaces that should help hold a camera and lens. They probably aren't quite as warm as a mitten but may be worth a look.

Trigger fingure mittens, is what we called them in Korea. Wondered if they still made them. They worked very well for handeling cameras too. Nose wipers are built right in, nice touch.

I use these . Fingers stay covered and there's a zippered compartment to put those disposable hand warmers in. They work great!

Bet you could put latex gloves underneath to protect the finger tips.

I use those type of gloves on the large size plus thin knit gloves underneath (you can find nice ones ant hunting shops). The outer gloves I have also have a flap on the thumb, which is useful for the thumb wheels.

With Latex you would build up sweat and it would become very uncomfortable I would think.

Even with these two layers, in sub-zero weather with wind this winter, I left the cover flaps open exposing my knit covered fingers for too long. All of a sudden my fingers were in agonizing pain and I couldn't move them even to press the shutter. Took me 1half an hour to get them warm enough that the pain went away. and I could shoot again.

Northern Illinois in sub-zero

Hey, if you have a Marc's store in your area look for these too, taking Rogers tip I was on the lookout for these and my local Marc's store had them for $3.99, and yes they are thinsulate too with the palm pad and they are warm and very convienent to use@! Thanks again Mr Wacky Roger
