p.1 #1 · Put to Pasture Long Ago...

The effect I applied to this image is generally not something I do, unless I'm just playing around. I was just about finished with this image and I decided to try an effect I had not applied before. I couldn't take my eye off it, and didn't want to do an "undo" so I kept it.

The original, before this effect was applied can be seen at:

I would be interested to see what others think of these. This old school bus was left in the woods alongside an old woods road down on the far east end of my property. The tree growing in the motor compartment somewhat dates how long it had been there. I was told it was used by Fox hunters years ago as a shelter.

Perhaps I'm not the best to give an opinion on this, being that I favor realism in my photography as opposed to painterly effects, but I do like the tonality. I just don't favor the "effect" on the trees. I much prefer the original.

Andy

Love the shot. Not too crazy about the effect though. I'd love to see one without the design layer. No offense, but a very strong shot on its own.

Hey Tim, thanks for the comments! When you say "design layer", are you referring to the special effect (I'm still pretty new to digital)? If so, I have the link up there for the original B&W just after the conversion with no effects. Let me know what you think of that one... Your comments are very much appreciated.

I prefer the toning above to the original.
I prefer the effect removed.
Excellent image.

I think I like the original image better, but both have merit.

I must say that I prefer the original, too. Very cool on it's own, and a shot well taken.
That tree growing up throught the engine compartment is too much!
This second part sounds a little weird, but I AM a little weird... I see your second attempt as being something that could be really cool with bright, primary colors. Maybe a "Partridge Family" graveyard theme! I think it could be pretty interesting!
I posted an example, but removed it. Thought it might be bad etiquette.
