p.1 #1 · Good Atlanta-area photo store?

I'm in Atlanta for a week and I was wondering if anyone here is aware of a good photo store in the area. The rub is that I'm not looking for cameras or lenses, but rather backpacks and tripods. I'm located in Dunwoody (north side) but I'd be willing to drive anywhere inside the perimeter (or a little outside). Thanks!

one of the best camera stores in Atlanta is Showcase on Cheshire Road in the city. Another one is in the town of Lilburn, called Photobarn. This is not to far of a drive from Dunwoody.

KEH is in Atlanta, and they recently moved to a larger ware house. They are mostly online/mail order sales, lots of used stuff, but I have heard that some people have been able to go and see the stock and purchase. Check them out online at keh.com

It is surprising how lacking Atlanta is when it comes to camera stores. I have had nothing but poor service at Showcase. It has the largest selection of bags but that's the only good thing that I can say about them. The rental house is Professional Photo Resources or PPR which is on 11th Street just west of Georgia Tech but they don't have a large showroom. KEH is an online store with no retail store and I haven't made it out to Photobarn, so I cannot comment on them.

I'm up in Roswell and there's a Wolf Camera west off exit 7 that has a pretty decent collection of camera bags and tripods.

The Wolf at Northpoint mall is pretty lacking. I was there today and they had some cheapy tripods, a few bogens, and one of the fat Gitzos, 3000-series.

PPR near Tech is more of a rental place and their showroom is pretty small. I'm not sure if they even carry bags or pods.

KEH I've been to, but only in the repair area I believe. They have these mirror windows everywhere and secure access to the various zones. I'm not sure if they have a showroom at all.

Never been to Showcase, but it sounds like it may be promising. Atlanta definitely does seem to be lacking in photo stores other than Wolf Camera which tends to sell significantly marked up products.
