p.1 #1 · Surface Blur in CS3

Recently when i try to use surface blur in cs3 it absolutely slows to a crawl... i know it is an intensive filter but its even really really slow when im adjusting it before i hit ok. if i move one of the sliders it can take up to a minute for it to adjust the preview..which makes adjusting hard, not to mention very time consuming

i have 2 GB of ram. it was never this slow...maybe 1 second if that to see adjustment changes and about 10-15 seconds to apply the filter...now about a min between adjustments and almost 10 minutes to apply it.

any ideas..ive tried to make it the only thing running but still the same.

any help would be greatly appreciated

Erik

Surface Blur in CS4 is now multi-core aware. One of the one's that are - and I'm glad it is.

To speed it up in CS3 uncheck the preview box. Also I think the way it's made - it's intent, you should in most situations, be using it with a threshold of 10 or above and a pixel radius below 25. With those settings it's not all that slow. I mean less slow than 1 minute slider adjusts for sure.
