So, since then I have been scouring the net(being somewhat of a Miser!) looking to pick up that 'just right' deal!.....well now I have gone and Accidently Bid on the Wrong- Mac Pro Tower- I accidently purchased the Dual Core 3.0mhz..instead of the Dual Quad Core (8 core)....Ouch! stupid mistake....
I have won the auction on Ebay(I dropped a snipe bid on the item this AM and then ran to work and come home only to see I bid on the wrong deal!), and its my own fault that I somehow missed or confused the 'dual quad' and 'dual core'.....Now I was think of two things
1) email the seller, and tell him I'm an idiot and miss bid and ask him to consider "2nd highest bidder'....or
2) Suck it up and just enjoy it for what it is.....(that sounds fine, but knowing myself it will eat at me a bit, since I was planning to make this purchase correctly and buy just what I needed/wanted....
Any suggestions?
And just how good is the Dual Quad?(god, I fell like an idiot, especially when I was just trying to save a few bucks!)

I think it depends on how much you bid. If it's "a lot" go for option 1. If you got a great deal do option 2 and later when 3GHz quad core procs drop to around $500 or so () you can upgrade if you think you need to.
The 3.0GHz macs are inherently slower tho. Slower RAM, slower buss clocks, slower IDE I/O, etc. etc. They were pretty nice when they first came out but compared to the newer models they're kinda lacking in the zip department.

Thank you Bifurcator! I always appreciate your candid opinions. IMO, I didn't get a good enough price on 'dual' to justify it- however it would have been a sweet deal on a dual quad...
I have asked the seller to consider a "2nd chance offer" and in return I offered to cover any difference between my bid and the 2nd as gratitude. Fingers crossed...
