For 2 Grand the NVIDA better run everything in a nanosecond. You can buy several computers for that much.

I've been using CS4 now for a couple of weeks and am mostly feeling it was not a necessary update. I might change my mind, but spending all this money on video cards so I can rotate the canvas is a little much.

Remember, CS4 is also being marketing to video makers. They are the ones that need the really fast video cards. For the still photog, it is not really necessary.

I find that if I uncheck the 4gl box CS4 runs faster. Do you know what is the cheapest video card that gets the best performance. It seems adobe lists all cards that support the 2.0 open GL standards. I wish they would rate them as to performance.

I agree completely.

However, the 5DII sort of changes things, and it's surely just the start.

Then again, the new Intel Nehalem chips have ridiculously-fast ram access times & throughput, and we could well see EIGHT core versions by sometime next year. I think that should suffice for even H264 editing.

Right, to handle the 5DII you now need to buy BOTH Photoshop CS4 and Premiere Pro CS4.

Oh, and let's not forget Encore CS4 if you ever want to view your video on a TV. :-)
