Here is one from the first week I had my XTi this summer. I took it in Hawaii with the kit lens. Still one of my favorite pictures. Just looking for some feedback.
I believe this is a 'shrimp plant' ?? Lots of color, with the oranges standing out. Foilage and flowers are often difficult, as you can see the foilage is reflecting blue and sometimes reds and oranges easily oversaturate and can look a little washed out.
I am glad you like it, that is important A bit of minor adjustments in processing and it gets even better. That comes with time, just continue to work on good compositions and most of all try to isolate your subject from other distracting ones when it comes to small and delicate subjects.
To me on this on, a little darker, a little less saturaion and perhaps a little hue adjustment to add just a little warmth (yellow) Also you shot responded nicely to more sharpening when I tried it so this is too a possibility.

Thanks Karl! I wish I would have been shooting RAW back then... well months ago that is... but I only had a 2 gig card to cover all of Hawaii, so I had to shoot in small file sizes.
